Role Summary:
As a Summer Cybersecurity Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain practical experience in the field of cybersecurity while contributing to our company’s overall security. You will work closely with our cybersecurity lab team and assist in various tasks related to protecting our customers’ systems, networks, and data. Your main objective will be to support the team in identifying and mitigating security risks and ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our fast-paced managed Cybersecurity Manager service business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Security Monitoring: Assist in monitoring and analyzing security logs and alerts to detect potential security incidents or breaches. Collaborate with the team to investigate and respond to security events in a timely manner.
- Vulnerability Assessment: Participate in vulnerability scanning activities to identify security weaknesses in our systems and networks. Help assess the risk associated with identified vulnerabilities and recommend appropriate remediation measures.
- Security Policy Compliance: Support the team in ensuring compliance with established security policies, procedures, and industry best practices. Assist in conducting security audits and assessments to verify adherence to security standards.
- Security Awareness Training: Contribute to developing and delivering employee security awareness training and materials. Help raise awareness about common cybersecurity threats and best practices for protecting sensitive information.
- Incident Response: Aid in creating incident response plans and procedures and coordinating and documenting incident response activities, including containment, eradication, and recovery.
- Security Research: Stay current with cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and industry trends. Assist in researching and evaluating new technologies and security solutions that can enhance our overall security posture.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of security-related activities, including policies, procedures, and incident response plans. Assist in generating periodic security reports for management review.
Skills and Experience:
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in cybersecurity, computer science, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of networking concepts, operating systems, and standard security tools and technologies.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks like NIST, ISO 27001, or CIS Controls.
- Basic understanding of penetration testing concepts and tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate security-related concepts and recommendations.
